randomness

Random photos from my iPhone while I'm out and about:

Sparkle ankle boots! So pretty!
See by Chloe grey leather lace-up booties that is on my wish list.
Dinner! Just so we're clear: I didn't make this, my mum dropped off some food for me.
David Beckham immortalized in his boxers.
The bunnies that come visit and hang out in the front lawn of my building. So adorable :)
Pan-fried dumplings in broth... also from my mum.

owl shopping

A new home decor shop has opened up on South Granville, West Elm, and since I had to pick up my chrome hoot owl from Urban Barn, I decided to drop by the store along the way.

Donated some change to some cute firefighters and got this sticker.
Chinese terracotta warriors are located all over the city and painted in different colours and patterns. I really like the royal blue colour on this figurine.
Pottery barn kids has the Wild Thing decor! If I was a kid, I would be ALL. OVER. THIS. SHIT.
Restoration Hardware has the most beautiful chandeliers. Now, if only I had a sugar daddy/inheritance/won the lottery, I would totally buy it.
I think I found a new favourite store to shop for home decor stuff! They have the cutest owl ceramics and really great affordable stuff. I see myself coming back very often, especially during their sales.

I picked up 2 white ceramic mugs at West Elm. They're SO CU-UTE!
The chrome hoot owl that I picked up from Urban Barn that's sitting pretty in my living room.

jumping on the red (band) wagon

Nothing like catching up with an old friend you haven't seen in years over a nice meal. My co-worker was the one the who suggested the Red Wagon Cafe, located on East Hastings. This little gem of a cafe is serving up delicious stick-to-your-ribs comfort food with a twist. I ordered the pulled pork pancakes (yay for having breakfast for dinner!) which also comes with an optional side of 2 eggs, and my dining buddies ordered the pulled pork sandwich and the croque monsieur.

Pulled pork pancakes: three buttermilk pancakes layered with pulled pork and served with Jack Daniels maple syrup.
Look at how fluffy and airy the buttermilk pancakes in contrast with the sweet BBQ pulled pork crammed in between the layers... SO GOOD.
Pulled pork sandwich on a Portegeuse bun and served with a side of fries. This is a messy sandwich to eat, so make sure to have plenty of extra napkins
The blurry picture of a gooey croque monsieur: grilled ham and cheese sandwich with bechamel served with fries or salad (my co-worker ordered the salad with her meal) . Perfectly gooey and creamy with a nice outer crunch.
Doodles that previous customers have done on their placemats. My favourite is the octopus in the red wagon.
I would totally come here again, if only for the pulled pork pancakes, but I'd also try some of the other items on the menu (pulled tofu sandwich, anyone?). I've heard that it gets super busy on Sunday mornings, with the line snaking out the door, but it's totally worth the wait.

crazy cat post

Since I'm not allowed to have animals in my building (well... you are allowed a goldfish and 2 small birds, but you can't cuddle with them!), I've taken it upon myself to "adopt" my friend's cats. I spend quite a fair bit of time kissing, petting and playing with them and speaking to them in that baby voice that you don't realize you're doing until you hear yourself. The great advantage of "adopting" my friend's pets is that I get to do all the fun stuff, but the minute they get sick or miss the litter box, I just let them deal with the  mess!

Sir Sputnik Hubble may look like he's been in the catnip, but he was just being curious.
This is Trotski. I might have woken him up from a cat nap.
Sir Barnabas Snarffington the Third sitting in a shoe box, with the shoes pushed to the side. He sat in the shoe box all night, only getting up to turn around and make himself comfortable again.
Sputnik snuggling with his favourite blankie.
Snarf Snarf found a bigger box.
Sputnik looking dashing with his moustache.

Kinski! This is my friend's parents' cat. She's pretty. And she knows it.
Sputnik: "It's been a long day of napping. So tired. Might need another nap soon... "

owl rightie, then!

This is probably the cutest thing that you will see today: Adorable!

Oh, and if that wasn't cute enough...

Sidenote: What the hell is this - Gangnam style?!

FNO

Fashion's Night Out in Vancouver debuted on September 6, with a free public fashion show at the CBC television studio and participating stores stayed opened later with in-store events, discounts, refreshments, and celebrations.

Started off the shopping extravaganza at Holt Renfrew to buy a few things on behalf of a friend (and maybe a little something for me :) The gift cards are good until the end of September, which means I'll be visiting Holts sometime in the near future.

My first purchases on Fashion's Night Out.
My sister wanted to stop by J. Crew to see what they had in store.
Big, colourful baubles, balloons and lots of colour on display at J. Crew.
After walking up and down Robson, it was time for a quick bite to eat at Cafe Crepe. I ordered the proscuitto and brie crepe, which was absolutely delicious.

A volunteer out on the street promoting Fashion's Night Out.
Inside the balloon is a gift certificate of an unknown amount and you have to check socialshopper.com to find out how much the gift certificate is worth. My sister was too scared to pop her balloon, so I ended up taking it home with me.
All my purchases at the end of the day. Not too bad, since most of it was on sale, discounted or on clearance.
From left to right: Stella & Dot earrings, Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb perfume with lotion, J. Crew nude skinny belt, M0851 leather toiletry travel bag in midnight blue and Jo Malone perfume (Wild Bluebell / Nectarine, Blossom and Honey / Blackberry and Bay) and samples. lazy summer day

Headed downtown to enjoy the sunshine and do some shopping, as all the stores are having their summer clearance sales to make room for fall stock. What I didn't know was, that is was also the day of the Taiwanese festival with a food court along Granville Street.
Delicious BBQ meats, supposedly the "best in town" if you want to believe the food vendor.
Decorate your own paper lanterns!
Smiling and wishing you good fortune, most likely.
Thumbs up for street food!
Velvet blue tank top that I bought at H&M. Nicely fitted shape and BEE-YOU-TIFUL colour as well.
Another celebrity fragrance on the market and it's Lady Gaga's Fame. which is actually a black perfume but sprays clear when applied to the skin.

The view from the Canada Line Bridgeport sky-train station while I was waiting for the next train. Blue skies and sunshine, how can you not love summer?
This is exactly how I felt after the end of the day, shopping and walking all over downtown. And what a cute little puppy! So adorable!
