around the city

A mini gallery of black and white photos when the Canada Line was being built.
Truth.
Robots are taking over the world. Beware.
Chocolate milk and chicken quesadilla for a quick snack.
Outside the VAG, no doubt.
Sometimes, things just pop up unexpectedly when you have a camera and an empty memory card lying at the bottom of your bag.

the big 3-0

Lying poolside at the Aria.
With my pending birthday drawing near, I decided it was a good time to get away with one of my besties (who is also turning 30) as an early birthday present. And what better way to kick off the festivities, then in Vegas? Spent a few days in the city of sin before jet-setting to San Francisco to chill and recover.

a well deserved break

... is definitely needed after an extremely stressful few months, not to mention a few emotional rollercoasters thrown in over the past few weeks. Planning to party hard, stay out late and enjoy liquid meals while I'm in Vegas with my bestie and then recharge and relax in San Francisco. This blog has been neglected for the past little bit, but I hope to be back in business after this much needed hiatus.

a little bit of wine with your whine?

A stressful week with a fast approaching payday meant dinner out on Friday and what better way to dine then with a little bit of wine? Comfort food was on the mind, so we made our way to Burgoo, which is quickly becoming one of our favourite places for dinner.

Before anything else, wine was needed. Immediately.
Instead of a second glass of wine, I opted for a sweet strawberry lemonade. Summer in a cocktail.
Burgoo's cheddar and parsley biscuits are absolutely delicious and homemade to boot.
Tried a little something different this time around: Downright Dip -- chilled spinach, smoked salmon, fresh herb and cream cheese dip, served with flatbread crisps.
For my entree, I had the half order of the Irish Stew -- Guinness braised lamb with potato, rutabaga and homemade dumplings, served over garlic mash potatoes. So good and so very filling! Ended up taking home some leftovers.
French onion soup is all about comfort goodness. Made with deeply roasted onions in rich beef broth with country style croutons slow baked with gooey Gruyere, Emmenthal and Mozzarella. Delicious.
